Licensing Windows Media DRM to Protect Content
You can license Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies to protect your audio and video content, and to issue licenses for use of that protected content.

Licensing Windows Media Rights Manager to Generate Protected Content and/or Issue Licenses
Generating protected audio and video content and issuing licenses for use of that protected content can be done in-house or by a vendor. Consider whether you want to complete this work yourself, or outsource it to a service provider.

If your company wants to generate its own protected content or issue its own licenses for protected content, complete these steps:
To develop a product or provide a service that incorporates Windows Media DRM using the Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1 SDK, which runs on Windows Server 2003 32-bit, submit the Microsoft License Request Form. Under Select License to Request, click WM Rights Manager 10.1 SDK Agreement.
To review a sample of the "Microsoft Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1 Software Development Kit License Agreement," see the Sample Windows Media Licensing Agreements.
After you complete the online license request form, Microsoft will send you the license agreement within two business days of your request. Follow these instructions to execute the agreement.
Sign and return the two printed license agreements, and obtain a code-signing certificate.
Use the code-signing certificate to digitally sign the blank OCX file provided with the agreement, and then send it to Microsoft. Microsoft will verify the signed file and counter-sign the license agreements.
The license agreement is granted within five business days of Microsoft receiving your signed license agreement and the signed file. Microsoft will send you a copy of your license agreement for your records.
After you complete the license agreement process, follow the instructions provided in an e-mail message from Microsoft to download the Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1 SDK for Windows Server 2003 32-bit.
Note The documentation for the Windows Media Rights Manager 10 Series SDK is included as part of the Windows Media Rights Manager 10.1 SDK documentation.
For more information about using the Windows Media Rights Manager SDK, see the article, Getting Started with Windows Media Rights Manager SDK.
